Dr. Karl Olutokun Toriola is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria and Vice President, Francophone Africa at MTN Group. In his dual role, he provides strategic leadership for MTN Nigeria while overseeing the Group’s operations across its Francophone African markets. With over two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry, Dr. Toriola has held several senior leadership positions across the MTN Group, including Group Vice President for West and Central Africa, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon, Chief Technical Officer of MTN Nigeria, and MTN Group Operating Executive, where he oversaw operations across 13 African markets.

Prior to joining MTN in 2006, he served as Chief Operations and Regional Officer at Vmobile Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria). He has also served on the boards of several multinational companies, including MTN operating companies across Africa, American Tower Corporation, Jumia Africa, and UAC Nigeria Plc.

Dr. Toriola is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, a member of the Institute of Directors, and an alumnus of Stanford Graduate School of Business, Harvard Business School, London Business School, and IMD Switzerland. In 2024, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Obafemi Awolowo University. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and an M.Sc. in Communication Systems from Swansea University, United Kingdom.
