Pack for hot weather
The Weather in Lagos can vary, but it is mostly hot, so pack accordingly. October in Lagos typically sees warm temperatures with occasional rainfall. Opt for lightweight, breathable clothing such as cotton shirts, shorts, and dresses to stay cool during the day. Light jackets or sweaters for cooler evenings or indoor air-conditioned spaces. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, especially for exploring Lagos’ vibrant streets and markets. Don’t forget to protect yourself from the sun by packing sunscreen with a high SPF.
Electronics and accessories
Bring along your camera or smartphone to capture all the incredible moments during Moonshot 2026. Don’t forget to pack chargers, adapters, and power banks to keep your devices powered up throughout your trip.
Vaccinations are important
Some vaccines are recommended or required for Nigeria, depending on your nationality. For instance, travelers aged 9 months or older arriving from countries where there is a risk of yellow fever transmission must possess a yellow fever vaccination certificate. This requirement also applies to travelers who have transited through an airport in a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. Check the Nigerian International Travel Portal for the most up-to-date entry requirements. You can also bring your first aid medicines if need be.
Don’t forget your health essentials
Pack any prescription medications you may need for the duration of your stay, along with basic over-the-counter medications for common ailments like headaches or allergies. Consider bringing insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes, especially if you plan to explore outdoor areas.
Get travel insurance
We recommend getting travel insurance as soon as you book your flights to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances like medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other potential disruptions. Suggested travel insurance include Safety Wings and AXA Mansard.

Visas
Unless you’re a citizen/national of a member state of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), you’ll need a valid Nigerian visa to be admitted into Nigeria from any of its international ports. Nigerian visas are issued through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) desk at the Nigerian Embassy or Consulate in your home country. The nation also has a Visa-on-Arrival scheme for interested travellers.

From the ubiquitous yellow commercial buses popularly called “Danfo”, to the commercial tricycles called “Keke”, and Lagos State Government-run “BRT” buses, there are a host of ways to get around in Lagos
However, we recommend the following easy ways to get around, some of which you may already be familiar with from your home country or other countries you have visited.

basics
Money and currency
The official currency is the Nigerian Naira (NGN) so you should consider exchanging currency or withdrawing cash upon arrival at the airport or local banks. While most major banks’ ATMs accept international cards for cash withdrawals, and credit cards are accepted in major hotels and establishments, it’s advisable to carry some cash for smaller purchases and transactions as cash is still king in the country.
NB: Foreign credit cards are only likely to work in high-end stores and restaurants.
You will need data to stay connected
WiFi will be available at the conference venue and in most major hotels. However, WiFi is not readily accessible on the streets, and internet connectivity may vary depending on your location. For 24/7 internet access, consider either of the following options:
Local SIM Card: You can purchase a local SIM card from major network providers like MTN, Airtel, & Globacom. This option, however, requires registration with your passport, a valid Nigerian National Identification Number (NIN) and may not be ideal for short-term visitors.
e-SIM: For a more convenient option without the need for a NIN, consider purchasing an e-SIM. Service providers like Nomad and ETravelSim offer traveler-friendly e-SIMs that provide data access in Nigeria without extensive documentation or registration.
Shopping in local markets or food stalls:
You can always check out any mall close to you, like Spar, Market Square, Prince Ebeano Supermarket, etc. A lot of these establishments in malls accept debit card payments. However, if you’re going to shop around local markets, make sure to go with cash.
Drink bottled water:
It is crucial to stay well-hydrated by consuming lots of water. Opt for bottled water and avoid drinking water from clear sachets. You can buy a pack of bottled water from supermarkets like Spar for N2,400 ($1.81/ £1.34) for 12 bottles. Avoid drinking water directly from the tap; if you must, boil the water or filter it to make sure it’s clean.

Attending the conference

Moonshot 2026 conference will run from Wednesday, October 28, to Thursday, October 29, at the National Theatre, Lagos, Nigeria. Whether you’re lodged far away or close to the venue, you can choose from suggested commuting options to get to the venue.
If you’re staying far away from the venue, you should consider leaving hours early, as Lagos is always plagued with traffic jams, particularly in the morning or evening during rush hours.
Off-Conference
activities
For Moonshot 2026, there is an exciting lineup of activities that’ll keep you entertained before and after the main conference from Tuesday, October 27, to Saturday, October 31. Moonshot begins with an opening mixer on Tuesday, October 27, to set the tone for the event. The mixer is strictly by invitation, and guests have to confirm attendance via RSVP to the invites sent.
There are also lined-up side events and mixers after the first day of the conference on Wednesday, ensuring the fun never stops. The second day of the conference ends with an exciting closing party.
